Service Description

Savor Languages is an AI-powered language learning platform that provides structured, city-rooted language instruction across seven languages and six proficiency levels. The Service uses artificial intelligence technologies, including speech-to-text transcription, text-to-speech synthesis, and conversational AI, to deliver interactive language lessons.

Core features of the Service include structured lesson sessions, AI-driven conversation practice with real-time feedback, voice-based interaction via microphone input, spaced repetition vocabulary review, progress tracking, and city-anchored cultural content. The Service is delivered through a web-based application accessible via modern web browsers.

Account Creation and Responsibilities

To access the Service, you must create an account by providing a valid email address, your name, and a password. You represent that all information you provide during registration is accurate, current, and complete, and you agree to update such information as necessary to maintain its accuracy.

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at [email protected] if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if any information provided during registration proves to be inaccurate, misleading, or incomplete, or if you violate any provision of these Terms.

Subscription Tiers and Payment

The Service is offered through the following subscription tiers:

• Taste (Free): Access to the Taste level (Level I) across all seven languages at no cost. Includes limited AI conversation sessions (three per week) and basic progress tracking. No credit card required.
• Flavor+ ($12/month): Full access to all seven languages across all six levels (Taste through Signature). Includes unlimited AI conversation sessions, voice mode, full progress dashboard, city cross-content, level completion certificates, and native speaker audio.
• STU Bundle ($18/month): All Flavor+ features, bundled with a Savor the Universe subscription for integrated food and language cultural content.

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe, our third-party payment processor. By subscribing to a paid tier, you authorize us to charge your designated payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

We reserve the right to modify subscription pricing with at least thirty (30) days' advance notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

Audio Recording Consent

The Service requires access to your device's microphone to enable core functionality, including spoken language practice, pronunciation assessment, and AI conversation exercises. By using the Service, you expressly consent to the recording of your voice during active lesson sessions and practice exercises.

Audio is captured exclusively through the browser's MediaRecorder API and is transmitted to our servers solely for real-time processing. Your microphone is active only during designated recording periods that you initiate (for example, by pressing the microphone button). The Service does not record audio passively or in the background.

You may revoke microphone access at any time through your browser settings. However, doing so will prevent you from using voice-based features of the Service, which constitute a substantial portion of the learning experience.

AI Processing and Third-Party Services

The Service utilizes artificial intelligence technologies provided by third-party service providers to deliver its core functionality. By using the Service, you acknowledge and agree that your data may be processed by the following third-party services:

• OpenAI Whisper:Your recorded audio is transmitted to OpenAI's Whisper API for speech-to-text transcription. Audio data is processed in real time and is not permanently stored by OpenAI or by us after transcription is complete.
• ElevenLabs: Text generated during lessons is sent to ElevenLabs for text-to-speech voice synthesis, enabling native-quality audio playback of target language content.
• Anthropic Claude:Conversation text and lesson context are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to power interactive conversation practice, real-time language feedback, and scoring. Your conversations are not used to train Anthropic's AI models.
• Stripe: Payment information is processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment details on our servers.

We select third-party providers that maintain industry-standard security practices, but we cannot guarantee the security measures of third-party services. Each provider's handling of your data is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms of service.

Intellectual Property

All content provided through the Service, including but not limited to lesson materials, city stories, grammar explanations, vocabulary lists, audio recordings of native speakers, illustrations, user interface design, and the Savor method curriculum, is the exclusive property of Savor Languages or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service content solely for your personal, non-commercial language learning purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, or otherwise exploit any Service content without our prior written consent.

Content you generate through the Service, such as your spoken responses and written text during conversation exercises, remains your property. However, you grant us a limited license to process such content as necessary to provide the Service functionality described herein.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You shall not:

• Use the Service in any manner that could disable, overburden, damage, or impair the Service or interfere with any other party's use of the Service.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service, other accounts, computer systems, or networks connected to the Service.
• Use any automated means, including bots, scrapers, or crawlers, to access the Service or extract content from it.
• Reproduce, redistribute, sell, or commercially exploit any portion of the Service content without our express written permission.
• Use the AI conversation features to generate content that is harmful, abusive, threatening, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable.
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Share your account credentials with third parties or allow multiple individuals to access the Service through a single account.
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent any access restrictions, subscription limitations, or content protection measures.

Violation of these acceptable use provisions may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account without notice or refund.

Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected] or through your account settings. If you have an active paid subscription, cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period, and you will retain access to paid features until that date. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to a breach of these Terms, with or without notice. In cases of suspected fraud, abuse, or conduct harmful to other users or the integrity of the Service, we may terminate your account immediately without prior notice.

Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases immediately. We may, but are not obligated to, delete your account data following termination, subject to our data retention practices described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any defects will be corrected. AI-generated content, including language feedback, pronunciation assessments, and conversational responses, may contain errors or inaccuracies. The Service is intended as a supplementary language learning tool and should not be relied upon as the sole source of language instruction.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL SAVOR LANGUAGES, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith informal negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within thirty (30) days, either party may initiate binding arbitration administered by a recognized arbitration organization, with the arbitration conducted in the English language and seated in California.

You agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class action, class arbitration, or other representative proceeding.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service at least fifteen (15) days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree with the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service and may request account deletion.
